The origins of the Iron Cult Navy trace its roots in the riverborne warfare in Lower Varania, where the control over the extensive river networks marked the difference between victory and defeat during the early days of the Munrian War. As time progressed, more and more innovative designs were employed, usually dedicated to the transportation of troops and supplies, with the riverfort artillery supporting any operations during engagements. After the conquest of Emder, the Iron Cult invested in the construction of a large armada. With access to the sea now secured, plans formed to elevate the Iron Cult into a major Erovan power, contesting the increasing influence of the western nations. To achieve this, the Iron Cult had to compete for dominion over the waves, and establish themselves as a superior power in land as well as at sea. In order to bolster its navy and employ the expertise and numbers they could not initially possess, the Iron Cult adopted the use of privateer contracts. Several pirates, outlaws and buccaneers signed their ships in, benefiting from the protection and infrastructure offered by the Iron Cult.

The Iron Cult Navy (ICN) is divided in two parts. The High Seas Fleets, and the Sky Fleets. The High Seas Fleets are ships dedicated to ocean-crossing adventures and naval expenditions all around the world, while the Sky Fleets consist entirely of Airships, undertaking missions over both sea and land alike.
