Unit Name: Iron Guard Infantry

Consolidation Thread: NA
Unit Description: The Iron Guard Infantry represents the very basic innovation brought to the Erovian armies by the Iron Cult's war machine. Contrasting the ordinary line or foot troops, the Iron Guard employs masses of musket troops, equipped with light gear to allow greater mobility and much higher firepower in the field. Although typical of the era's armies to demonstrate the heraldry of their lieges, the Iron Guard Infantry employs a dark earthly coloured gambeson, reflecting the muddy fields of Ostronnia from whence they hail from. The light iron breastplate and pouldrons are usually marked with their regimental colours.

Strengths
+ Good Soldiers follow Orders. The Iron Guard troops are defined by discipline and determination. During battle, regardless the odds, they will endure tremendous pressure before breaking.
+ First rank, FIRE! Second rank, FIRE! The well-trainned troops of the Iron Guard can fire ordered volleys, resulting to much more brutal accuracy and suppressing fire against the coming enemy.
+ One with the Mud. The gear worn by the troops and their vigorus trainning allows them to crawl down or employ what others could consider guerilla tactics, using the environment to their advantage to receive cover or make it harder for enemy ranged troops to engage them.

Weaknesses
- Lightly Geared. Their equipment is basic, at best, when it comes to their own protection, making them vulnerable against heavier troops, or worse, artillery.
- Hooves be stomping! When it comes to cavalry charges, unless the troops have a way to gain cover, or disorient the enemy, they have pretty much no way of holding off the charge, or standing in line after.
- Where my reserves at!? The Guard's high numbers of casualties and human-wave tactics expose them to constant need for supply lines to ensure they receive most needed reinforcements, otherwise the Guard's advance bogs down or worse, collapses.

Historical Information
The Iron Guard had always been an infantry-based organization, heavily relied on firepower. The Infantry Sections are the very core of their armies, deploying numerous barrels of muskets against the enemy line, suppressing them with enough shots to keep them low, while the cavalry or worse, artillery, do the heavy lifting. Besides, however, the frontal advances and the heavy bombardments, the Guard has need for ranged troops to support the push. It is there where the Sections truly shine.

The ideal role of the Infantry Sections is to remain behind the vanguard and engage the enemy with rifle fire, weakening and pinning them down, until the vanguard mauls them open.
