ASTROGRAPHIC ELEMENT
  • Name: Vandemar
  • Type: Subsector
    • Sector Artwork by Zasta (no homepage, Discord friend)

  • Description: Far in the Western fringes of the Unknown Regions lays Vandemar, an oddity among the wildness and chaos of the Unknown Regions for its unity and stability beckoned it to be a pillar of control for the neighbouring regions. The Subsector Vandemar itself has four settled worlds that all are feature different biomes and societies though all being part of the same civilisation. Developed over centuries through own traditions and aspirations, expanded upon by its late overlord and now their own Hegemon. Its worlds are deeply connected, not only on a social and cultural level but also on an economic one, having created a well maintained balance of supply and demand across several sectors favoring growth supported by imports and exports.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION
The Realm of Vandemar emerged as a formidable power within the Unknown Regions long before its annexation by the Eternal Empire of Zakuul. Originally an independent dominion, Vandemar was known for its disciplined warrior culture and advanced industrial capabilities, which allowed it to maintain sovereignty despite the chaotic nature of the Unknown Regions. Its society was built on a rigid hierarchy, with a ruling warrior aristocracy overseeing vast foundries and shipyards that supplied its formidable fleets. However, when Valkorion (the immortal Sith Emperor in disguise) expanded the Eternal Empire’s reach, Vandemar’s strategic value made it a prime target. After a brutal but swift campaign, Valkorion subdued the realm, integrating its military-industrial complex into his growing empire while allowing its traditions to persist under the oversight of a Hegemon—a title bestowed upon its governor as a concession to its semi-autonomous status.

Under Eternal Imperial rule, Vandemar flourished as a bastion of industry and martial tradition, its people embracing Valkorion’s vision of order and knighthood. The realm became a key supplier of warships, armor, and elite soldiers for Zakuul’s campaigns, while its culture increasingly venerated the Eternal Throne. After Valkorion’s death and the subsequent fall of his children (Arcann, Thexan, and Vaylin), Vandemar’s devotion turned into fanatical worship, with the Eternal Imperial family enshrined as godlike figures. Temples and military academies alike preached absolute loyalty to their legacy, and the Hegemon Imperius—a shrewd and iron-willed ruler—exploited this fervor to consolidate power. Under Imperius, Vandemar underwent rapid militarization, forming the Imperial Army, Navy, and the elite Imperial Legion, a force modeled after Zakuul’s Knights but steeped in Vandemar’s own traditions of honor and relentless discipline.

The realm’s semi-autonomy allowed it to operate with surprising independence even as the wider Eternal Empire crumbled. Hegemon Imperius maintained a delicate balance—paying nominal allegiance to Zakuul while aggressively expanding Vandemar’s influence through calculated conquests and alliances. The Imperial Legion, clad in distinctive black-and-gold armor, became feared enforcers of the Hegemon’s will, crushing dissent and launching punitive campaigns against rival factions in the Unknown Regions. Meanwhile, Vandemar’s shipyards continued to produce advanced warships, ensuring its dominance in local space. However, this golden age was not without strife; internal factions clashed over the realm’s future, with some advocating total independence and others clinging to the fading dream of restoring the Eternal Empire.
