VEHICLE/VESSEL TEMPLATE
Name: The Yard aka Smuggler’s Paradise
Credits: Firefly ‘The Message’ Li Shens Bazaar
Consolidation Thread: N/A
Description: A hobbled together space station salvaged and scrapped from different space stations in particular cargo containers and blocks that have been retrofitted to have neon signs advertising shops and products inside the station. The space station looks liked a cobbled together peace of blocks sticking out at odd ends. The ship's can dock on the edge of the cargo box's or dock in the stations hangar for repair. Otherwise various bits of scrapped ships, and junk are floating in a sea surrounding the station making it hard to navigate. If the station has to move suddenly it leaves a debris field behind.
CLASSIFICATION
ATTRIBUTES
+Yard- Junkyard Scrap Yard, Salvage Yard, Ship Yard. It can dock, salvage, repair, repurpose multiple ships at any time. With all the fringe level facilities that come with it.
+Under the Radar- The Yard has enough defenses and speed that it can detect and then escape most significant presence of military or law enforcement deployment.
+Mobile- The Yard is a mobile base of operations. If things get too hot in a system it can escape to a new location.
Weaknesses
-Lightly Armed- Relying mostly on speed, sensors, scramblers and stealth. The Yard is vulnerable to attack. If attacked by light forces like pirates the Smuggler’s Alliance will come to it’s defense, but it’s not up to taking on the major factions of the galaxy.
-Scrap job- Somethings always needing repair and other than it’s defenses and speed everything is second or third or more hands old. Most of the facilities inside the station are either hallways or cargo boxes with not a lot of room for luxury. Though Slinger does his best to make sure it’s homelike.
- Loses it’s collection when moving- Other than a hangar which can hold half a dozen freighter size ships. If The Yard has to move it loses the collection of junk and scrap metal ships floating around it.
Historical Information
Started off as a way station market for Smugglers, fringer’s, spacers, salvagers, thieves, con artists, explorers, frontiersman, merchants so on and so forth. Although not quite a lawless place it had it’s rough edges and quiet deals in backrooms were known to take place. For a long time it was known as Poppa John’s Bazaar after the proprietor of the way station and his main market. When the Bazaar was attacked by Pirates. Slinger and his Smuggler’s Alliance came to Poppa John’s aid as the Republic was too busy to worry about one shady way station. Slinger pressed his advantage and said the Smuggler’s Alliance would offer limited protection if they could use the Bazaar as a mobile base of their own. Poppa John said he was getting too old for this game and said Slinger could keep the station just leave him the Bazaar inside it. Slinger used the multiple attachment points to expand using cargo boxes for docking points and developed the hangar space into a workshop. If Slinger was going to build a fleet for the Smugglers' this was a good place to start.
