OUT-OF-CHARACTER INFORMATION
Name: Radiated Aquatic Threat ( R.A.T. )
Type: Aquatic Mine

Consolidation Thread: N/A
Description: The Radiated Aquatic Threat, or R.A.T., is a grotesque underwater mine developed by the Eshkin. Shaped like a bloated mechanical rat head, its corroded frame is wrapped in pressure-warped metal plates and leaking pipes. Humming with doomstone-radiation and bristling with bone-spike sensors, it lurks in the deep, drawn to sound, motion, or warmth. When triggered, it lunges with rudimentary propulsion and detonates in a blight of concussive force and lingering radioactive contamination.
ATTRIBUTES
- Defence: Low
- Defensive Elements:
- Submersible and low-visibility due to corroded, darkened alloy casing.
- Defensive Elements:
- Offence: High
- Offensive Elements:
- High-yield explosive core lined with Doomstone fragments.
- Radiation bloom post-detonation poisons the surrounding area.
- Can detonate on impact or remotely via Eshkin command systems.
- Offensive Elements:
- Durability: Low
- Scarcity: Rare
- TvM Requirement: 5vX
STRENGTHS
+ After detonation, the mine leaves behind a radioactive zone that persists for days, denying access to key sea routes or underwater infrastructure.
+ The R.A.T. can operate independently for months before becoming unstable and detonating without contact.
+ Due to their underwater deployment, unsuspecting vessels will be unprepared to counteract these explosives.
WEAKNESSES
- Poor Eshkin craftsmanship makes it prone to mishaps ending in deadly explosions before a threat is even close.
- The radiation bloom affects friend and foe alike. Eshkin commanders must account for friendly unit losses if they enter contaminated waters too soon.
- Once activated, the mines will no longer be able to reposition, due to their high volatility
HISTORICAL INFORMATION
The Eshkin have long sought to reclaim dominance over the land, sea, and skies of Erovia. It is their right to own what they see. Others do not understand this, which has led to multiple occasions in which the Eshkin had to remove outsiders from Eshkin-claimed territories. There is a large body of water north of the Eastern Erovian Sea; its positioning close to the territories of the Eshkin, in addition to its tactical positioning on the global scale, has made it a main priority of the Eshkin naval campaign. However, due to the lacking naval prowess of the rats, this conquest has stretched itself for almost as long as the rats have been corrupting Erovia with their presence. A constant need to adapt and overcome their enemies has birthed the idea of the R.A.T., a tool to block enemy vessels from pushing too far into Eshkin territory and hinder any safe relocation of troops and supplies. The constant replacement and usage of the Radiated Aquatic Threats in this body of water has led locals to dub it the Sea of Rats.
