Biography:
Maysant was born to a normal peasant family in Bayenn. She was pursued by a local man due to her beauty in youth. Her parents learned that the man was a wealthy and well established jeweler not only in Par’leau but throughout Merélais. They all came to an accord and Maysant was married to the older jeweler. A young bride did not become a young mother much to the disappointment of Maysant and her husband. Maysant was happy with the wealth being married to her husband provided and her husband enjoyed the perks of a young bride and they proved to be happy in all things other than the growth of their family.
Finally when Maysant was 31 years old she had her first child, a son. Barely over a year later she gave birth to a daughter. Things were going great for the family until her husband was struck ill and died. Plenty was left for Maysant and her children, but the dream of her son learning the jeweling skill of her husband was gone. That being so, Maysant wanted to use some of her husband’s wealth to build generational wealth for her children. She purchased a plot inside Par’leau and build a large inn, unfortunately the inn did not take off and soon fell on hard times.
As things started to look grim an opportunity to lease out half of the inn’s room came along. With little other choice, Maysant jumped at the choice only to discover that the tenant was bringing in women to entertain the needs of the men of Bayenn. It was distasteful to Maysant at first, but as she saw the traffic that this business generated she dedicated her efforts to learn how to grow her influence on the handling of the women and to grow. Slowly La Maison des Jolies Fleurs became famous, or infamous depending on your point of view, and the destination for most wealthy and noble men (and some women).
So famous had her establishment become that Maysant was contracted by the High King of Pottaun to keep tabs on what he intended to make the central city of his High Kingdom. When the King fell in battle Maysant offered her services to the daughter. Though it was apparent that the grasp on the Kingdom was waning Maysant trusted in House Belyea to come back strong and she wanted to be able to reap the benefits when they did.
