Description: The Foggy Steps were once a symbol of dwarven endurance, a vast chain of stone bastions and narrow passes winding through the Vilepeak Mountains, leading into the sanctified mountain realm of the Four Summits. Forged in ancient days to stop the advance of vermin-kind, it is now their banner that hangs in tattered strips from crumbling towers. Following their complete conquest of Krag-Duraz and the genocide of its defenders, the Eshkin of Clan Metus have turned the ruined Steps into a nightmarish stronghold of their own design. War-machines idle behind scorched dwarven gates. Doomstone torches burn green in empty watchposts. The remains of dwarven architecture have been hollowed out, warped, and retooled to serve as a border checkpoint, one that ensures no enemy enters or leaves the Four Summits without being torn apart. The road no longer belongs to kings or clans. It belongs to the rats.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION
Built long before the rise of the Eshkin, the Foggy Steps were the dwarves’ sacred chain, a winding ascent through the Vilepeak Mountains, layered in fortresses, traps, and ancient statues of silent stone guardians. When the war came, this road became a deathbed. Every mile was bought in dwarven blood. But Clan Metus came not merely to destroy. They came to inherit.
Following their annihilation of Krag-Duraz and the detonation of the Rune of Ending, the Eshkin poured into the bones of the mountain. They scavenged every wall, every vault, every ruined turret. Now, ratkind has taken hold of what once was a dwarven bulwark, turning it into a border fortress under Eshkin control. The Foggy Steps now serve as a military checkpoint, a gate between the world and the scarred interior of the Four Summits, and a warning to all who remember who once lived here.
