Stormlord of the Crimson Tides - War Master

Unit Name: Iron Sentinels of the Flame

Consolidation Thread: N/A (WIP)
Unit Description: Clad in brass-plated steam armor and powered by compact coal-fed turbines mounted on their backs, the Iron Sentinels of the Flame are walking fortresses. Their imposing bulk and pressurized gear hiss and clank with each movement, casting the image of unstoppable juggernauts across Zenithian battlefields. Their helms are featureless domes of polished copper with narrow slits reinforced by tinted, shatter-resistant glass—like the face of an impassive god of war.
ATTRIBUTES
- Armour: Extreme
- Gear: Layered brass and steel plate armor; internal padding; steam-vented pauldrons; reinforced boiler core for shock absorption.
- Speed: Low
- Melee: Very High
- Weaponry: Pneumatic warhammers; steam-driven hydraulic fists; retractable bayonet lances capable of puncturing reinforced doors or enemy cavalry.
- Ranged: Average
- Weaponry: Shoulder-mounted flintlock rotary blasters (single-shot bursts from multiple barrels); wrist-loaded grapeshot cannons.
- Morale: Extreme
- Size: Average (13-25 members)
- Number: Provincial
- Recruitment & Replenishment: Recruited exclusively from the Foundry Guilds of Kalvyrn and the Flame Academy of Zenith’s inner citadel. Training takes two to three years and replenishment is slow due to armor production limits and boiler fatalities during early handling.
- TvM Requirement: 4v1
- Bulwarks of Attrition: Near-impervious to standard ballistic and melee strikes, capable of holding chokepoints against superior numbers.
- Shock Specialists: Their sudden entry—often via steam-pumped launch catapults—can rout lesser formations through sheer intimidation and impact.
- Lumbering Behemoths: Vulnerable to fast, agile skirmishers who can outmaneuver them or target boiler vents.
- Fuel & Maintenance Intensive: Require frequent refueling and mechanical upkeep. Cannot operate effectively without a support crew and mobile furnace caravan nearby.
The Iron Sentinels of the Flame were first deployed during the Zenithian suppression of the Broken Cartel uprisings in the undercity of Veskaar. Their brutal efficiency in breaching fortified barricades and surviving incendiary traps earned them both fear and reverence. During the Battle of Black Hollow Ridge, a unit of Sentinels held a ravine pass against over 400 enemy fighters for three days until reinforcements arrived—none of the original twelve left standing, but not a single inch lost.
