OUT-OF-CHARACTER-INFORMATION

Unit Name: Deathwind Troopers / Troopers
Credits: Image 1 / Image 2
Consolidation Thread: N/A
Unit Description: Deathwind Troopers are specialized Eshkin units designed for warfare using toxic and chemical weaponry. Clad in protective gear and gas masks, they hurl glass orbs filled with lethal, Doomstone-infused poison gas at their enemies. These toxic fumes are capable of dissolving armour and flesh in high doses, making them a formidable force in battle. Their armour is lightweight, allowing for mobility, but primarily designed to shield them from their own dangerous payloads. Their volatile ammunition makes them unpredictable, often as dangerous to allies as they are to foes.

ATTRIBUTES
  • Armour: Average
    • Gear: Crude leather and scrap armour. Protective filtration helmets to shield against the toxic fumes
  • Speed: Low
  • Melee: Low
    • Weaponry: Daggers, short swords or the occasional axe
  • Ranged: Very High
    • Weaponry: Highly poisonous glass globes, that spread deadly toxic gasses once broken
  • Morale: Low
  • Size: High (26-50)
  • Number: Provincial
    • Recruitment & Replenishment: Recruited in Eshkin cities and warrens, they go through specific and dangerous training in which they learn how to deal with the specific positions, this makes for a slower replenishment rate than most other Eshkin units. The province of Blightmarsh houses the main training facilities for this unit
  • TvM Requirement: 3v1

STRENGTHS

Lethal Area Denial: Their poison gas clouds can create zones of death, forcing enemies to avoid certain areas, disrupting formations

Anti-Armoured: The corrosive nature of their Doomstone-infused gases could penetrate armour both due to their corrosive properties and due to their gaseous state that can pass through gaps, making them particularly dangerous to heavily armoured foes who can not quickly run away

WEAKNESSES

Self-Destructive: Their volatile orbs can easily backfire, harming the Troopers and nearby allies if mishandled

Fragile Armor: Their lightweight protection is ineffective against direct physical attacks, making them susceptible in melee combat

HISTORICAL INFORMATION
The Deathwind Troopers were created in the depths of the Eshkin Under-Empire, where engineers conducted gruesome experiments to harness the destructive potential of Doomstone. They experimented with their horrifying alchemical processes and ideas, fusing Doomstone with toxic gases to produce a weapon capable of penetrating even the strongest of steels, all in the name of Eshkin expansion over the other races. Their inception was driven by the need for a specialized unit capable of countering heavily armoured foes, which traditional Eshkin infantry could not easily defeat. This invention allowed the Eshkin to even the odds against more powerful enemies by using their most dangerous resource: Doomstone. During the Battle of Bamberg, the Deathwind Troopers became legends of terror and chaos. In the opening stages of the battle, Eshkin forces were struggling against heavily armoured Imperial knights. Desperate to break the enemy lines, The Troopers were unleashed, hurling their lethal Doomstone globes into the fray. The dense poison clouds choked and melted knights in their armour, spreading panic among the Imperial ranks. However, in their eagerness, several Troopers mishandled their weapons, releasing deadly toxins that turned on their own forces, showing the terrifying unpredictability of their power. Despite the chaos, the damage they wrought was so severe that the battle turned in the Vermin's favor, their victims left as nothing more than twisted, gas-soaked corpses
