The armies of Pottaun have a plethora of mercenary and specialized troops, when deploying in the battlefields of central Erova. However, to support these units, great numbers of levied troops are required. The Spear Levies are one of the cheapest, and easy to raise regiment type, in Pottaun, consisting of mainly urban commoners and low-grade sellswords, who muster in units that are provided standard-issue equipment. These troops are tasked in holding the main lines of the Pottaun battlelines, providing screening for the cavalry and heavier troops, or extending the lines so that enemy cavalry and ranged units cannot engage directly at the more specialized regiments of the host.

Due to their relatively cheap equipment and short training required to be successfully fielded, these troops also serve as town watch and peace time policing troops in settlements and castles.
