Description: The Harvest ritual is composed of three phases, The Choosing Ceremony and trials, Harvest Ceremony and finally the Ceremony of Reaping.
Its an ancient practice and performed roughly only every 300ish years or so by the covens of N'orlannia, the criteria on which it is decided by the elders the ritual to be performed is one, when the coven notices their connection to their ancestors and their maggick to be weakening.
The Choosing Ceremony and trials:
The longest and more important milestone within the ritual. It involves the selection of four young in training witches to be picked and trained in more complex magick training testing their loyalty. Rigorous loyalty tests over the span of 4 months are concluded, decided by the active Regent, with additional force empowerment rituals strengthening the witch’s connection to the Ancestors making them more powerful and potent. The empowerment ceremonies are normally conducted within the planet’s nexuses.
The Harvest Ceremony:
All the coven gathers on the fourth twin full moon of the planet since the Choosing Ceremony was conducted. The Coven begins calling forth their Consecrated Ancestors, once called upon four offerings of power and faith are required. As each witch of the four is sacrificed their power is moved to the next of the four being sacrificed, accumulating in the last witch. If the Ceremony is concluded with no incident and no lack of loyalty the third Ceremony can commence once the twin full moons dawn and the rising sun can be saw in the horizon. In reality if faith is shown, the four witches are sent in a state of limbo where their sacrificial wounds would begin to heal, in the case the sacrifice is not accepted or not completed any sacrificed witch instead dies and proceeds to join the cosmic force.
The Ceremony of Reaping:
As the two moons begin to fade in the day and the sun begins its ascend, if the sacrifice was accepted by the Ancestors the coven begins to feel the weave of the force empowering them and as the suns rays begins to stroke the four sacrifices they are released from their limbo state and re-introduced into the living force.
ATTRIBUTES
Amplify the force potency of the covens’ members participating in the ritual.
Weakness
Long time for it to be performed requiring months of preparation.
If any of the four candidates does not have faith during the Harvest will result in failure of the ritual and a weakening of the force powers of the coven practicing the ritual.
Historical Information
The Harvest Ritual is a ceremony that is performed by those in the N'orlannia witch community who practice what they call Ancestral Magic. This sacrificial ritual is performed once every 300 years as a means to strengthen the connection between the living witches of N’orlannia and their deceased Ancestors, from whom they draw their magical power as is in their belief of the Force.
The Harvest ritual involves appeasing the ancestors by giving them an offering of power in exchange for the Ancestors strengthening the coven's connection to their magick, which weakens over time. The offering is meant to prove the coven's faith, not only in the Harvest ritual, but in the Ancestors themselves and the ancestral magick that the N'orlannia witches, both living and dead, practice. To prove this faith, the coven sacrifices four low ranking witches who are put in a kind of limbo for the duration of the Harvest ritual. Then, the coven is rewarded by their Ancestors for their faith and their offering of power by resurrecting the four witches and making the coven's connection to their Ancestors' magic even more powerful for the following three centuries, until the ritual is to be performed again, a stage that is known as the Reaping.
An Elder of the coven must perform the ritual, it is believed by the elders that the Harvest works much like the adage, "You reap what you sow." This means that their coven is rewarded for "sowing their seeds" by allowing them to "reap" the additional magical power given to them by the Ancestors in return for their sacrifice. But perpetually is a test of faith of the living towards the dead who in their belief supplements their power.
