Unit Description: The Grenadiers are defined by the use of armour. Meant to be the vanguard troops of any Darkling army, the Grenadiers are dedicated melee troops, tasked with holding off enemy troops that make it to melee.

- Recruitment & Replenishment: The Grenadiers are specialized troops vigorously trainned for their task, chosen among the most steadfast and battle-tested of the Grimcoat ranks.

- Vanguard. The Grenadiers are heavy, powerful troops that can fend off enemy attacks or even face off coming charges with great success. With the use of both Caltrips and hand grenades, they are capable of facing both infantry and mounted charges, breaking the enemy's momentum through the use of their specialized gear.
- Siege Breakers. When it comes to defending, or assaulting a position, the Grenadiers can inflict significant damage locally, openning gaps on the enemy for their allies to storm, or breaking enemy assaults with shrapnel grenades and makeshift pyrotechnics.
Weaknesses
- Slow Moving. Due to their gear, the Grenadiers are rather slow, making them a target for ranged troops.
- Loud Buckets of Iron. The heavy armour and the equipment carried makes these troops rather loud when moving, effectivelly negating any possibility of surprising or ambushing the foe.
Historical Information
The Grenadier units are sizeable sections of infantry tasked with protecting the line corps from enemy attacks, engaging enemy formations in melee combat and defending or assaulting fortified positions. Being hand-picked among the Grimcoat forces, the Grenadiers are selected for their steadfast nature, their physical strength and aggression. After undergoing brutal trainning and familiarizing themselves with hand to hand combat, they are given weaponry and armour that will assist them in enduring what most of the Grimcoat troops cannot: Close Quarters Combat.
