Credits: Image 1 / Image 2 / Image 3/ Image 4
Type:
Metropolis
Position: Located deep within the swamps of Blightmarsh, it is isolated from most other settlements in the province
Consolidation Thread: N/A
Architect: Constructed by an unknown Eshkin Lord and often modified over the years by its various new lords and inhabitants
Description: Eshingen is a festering, sprawling metropolis of twisted architecture and filth. It is built from ruined stone, metal, and whatever the Eshkin can scavenge. The city is an overwhelming maze of tunnels, passageways, laboratories, and pits, all crawling with teeming hordes of vermin. The air is thick with smog, and the water surrounding the city is poisoned by pollution. The metropolis sits upon massive amounts of Doomstone, which is constantly corrupting the surrounding features and the rats within, however, it also fuels the city and its hideous technology. Hidden deep in the marshes, the city’s location and corrupted environment make it difficult for outsiders to reach.

STRENGTHS

Doomstone Supply:
Eshingen sits on top of the largest deposit of Doomstone in the world, giving these vermin unparalleled access to this potent, corrupting material

Massive Eshkin Population: Eshingen is teeming with millions of rats, providing a constant source of labour, warriors, and power

Advanced Technology: Despite their chaotic nature, the Eshkin possess highly advanced war machines and technology, including Doomstone-powered devices, weaponry, and mutated monstrosities. This technology almost always is created in this unholy metropolis

Underground Network: The city is connected to a vast network of tunnels known as the Under-Empire, allowing the ratmen to move vast armies and resources in secret and strike at the surface world without warning

Council of Thirteen: The ruling body of the Eshkin, the Council of Thirteen, ensures that Eshingen is the political and military hub of the entire rat race, making it the centre of their global operations. And the most defended location in The Hegemony of Esh

WEAKNESSES

Internal Strife:
The Eshkin are notorious for their treachery and infighting, and Eshingen is rife with political intrigue and backstabbing that often undermines their collective strength.

Overpopulation: Eshingen massive population, while a strength in terms of numbers, also leads to constant overcrowding, food shortages, and frequent outbreaks of violence as Eshkin fight for resources and power.

Structural Instability: The city’s architecture is haphazard and constantly shifting as new tunnels are dug, and old ones collapse or are destroyed in infighting. This makes parts of the city dangerously unstable.

Doomstone Corruption: Prolonged exposure to Doomstone has a detrimental effect on the Eshkin themselves. It mutates and deforms them, causing unpredictability in their ranks and sometimes leading to uncontrollable outbreaks of mutation that can destroy parts of the city

Corrupted Environment: The polluted and diseased nature of the city, while a defence, is also a hazard to the vermin themselves, and can lead to outbreaks of plague and sickness.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION

Eshingen is the birthplace of the Eshkin race, said to have been formed when the Great God: Esh unleashed his fury upon the world. Since its founding, it has remained the heart of these vermin, their society, and the source of their greatest plans for domination. Eshingen has played a central role in countless events throughout the ratmens history, from the rise of the Council of Thirteen to invasions and machinations that threaten the surface world. Its influence stretches far beyond its physical borders, as Eshkin agents spread across the globe from this festering metropolis.
