Historical Information
The crossbow has been a very advantageous element of the armies of Merelais, with very few neighbouring Regions having access to this patent. However, although much easier to master compared to the bow, when put on horseback, the crossbow becomes a horrifying weapon.
The Mounted Crossbowmen regiments launch suddden volleys of armour piercing bolts that can devastate the front lines of enemy units of either infantry, or cavalry, withdrawing before any retaliation can be made.
